Now, here’s a little something I cobbled together – a sort of verbal frolic, if you will – a poem, though I use the term loosely. It’s a free-spirited affair, untethered by those tyrannical tyrants, rhyme and meter. Think of it as a dance of words, sometimes a waltz, sometimes a jig, just like life itself.
Yes, there’s a whisper of ancient wisdom woven in, a touch of yogic and Vedantic fancy, but don’t let that scare you off. It’s mostly a good-natured poke at the grand spectacle of existence, a celebration of this magnificent, bewildering gift we call life. We seem to have a knack for building our own little prisons of worry and schedule, don’t we? Life, bless its heart, remains blissfully unaware of our self-imposed shackles.
Have you ever paused to truly observe the sheer, unadulterated liveliness of it all? A flower unfurling its petals, a chorus of birds heralding the dawn, or even the grand ballet of our urban jungles—teeming masses and mechanical beasts moving in a symphony of chaos. It’s a marvel, I tell you, a veritable spectacle! But alas, we’re often too busy fussing over our own little dramas to notice.
Instead of staring at that infernal contraption, the telephone, while waiting for the iron steed, or bombarding our long-suffering friends with digital drivel, or fretting over the mountain of tasks ahead—instead of rushing this very piece into the digital ether, I might just slip away for a moment. Feel the breeze rustling through the leaves, a natural orchestra to rival any symphony hall. Even the honking chariots and barking canines have their own peculiar music, if you listen closely.
And why curse the driver of the lumbering metal beast for a missed stop, when I could thank him for a brisk morning constitutional? The choice, as they say, is ours. It reminds me of a little wisdom I once stumbled upon: ‘If “I” is replaced by “We,” even Illness becomes Wellness.’ A simple truth, but profound.
So, without further ado, let us embark on this poetic journey, this little ode to the wondrous, chaotic, and utterly delightful thing we call life. Here it is, for your amusement and, perhaps, a moment of reflection:
Stressful days and restless nights,
Unjust moments depriving delights,
Those outer battles and inner fights,
Occasional seconds of bright lights.
All sad, scary and frustrating sights,
Made me question eternal’s mights.
All joyous, glorious and memorable days,
Bicycling with mates many friendly race,
With huge smiles on everyone’s face,
And the events testifying divine grace,
Those big eyes wide open in Amaze.
Made me realise everything’s in balance.
Crests and troughs of the waves,
Days and Nights, Yin and Yang,
Sun and Moon, light and dark,
Sandy beach and grassy park,
Fire and ice, cats and mice,
Evil and good, fool and wise.
All of these pairs of Antithesis,
Expressing the distorted bliss,
These vivid sets of opposites,
Make our story a true classic.
Whatever be our current condition,
Applaud! cosmic play isn’t yet done.
Absurd Aspirants of Liberation,
Vilify it as a mere imagination:
As Maya creating unreal sights.
Ignorants derive joy in their vice,
Tamasic pleasure and evil delights.
Time has come to open our eyes.
This is what Upanishads scream,
World is not an egocentric dream.
But a conscious divine play,
Rather a cosmic dance,
Sealing in it an unparalleled chance,
Exceeding status even of a trance.
Every streamline of the breath,
Each repeated beat of the heart,
And reciprocation of diaphragm,
Each contracting and expanding
Action of the bellow like lungs,
Conscious climbing invisible rungs.
These happenings behind the screen,
This beautiful planet pretty and green.
All these are gifts generally unseen.
The life is such an unnoticed cutie.
An expression of an eternal beauty
of the divine play in our mortal clay.
The life is indeed a blessing,
In our ignorant dressing,
People trailing in opposite bends,
Don’t conceive this till the life ends.
For all ecstasies, I’m eternally grateful.
Due to these dynamics, Life is beautiful.
